This is something I'm very curious about and that's been on my mind for about half a month at this point, whatever happened to the indev preview graphics we were shown? without a shadow of a doubt the modern graphics are better, kitfox has done a fantastic job, but a part of me really likes the lofi charm of the original sprites and wishes we got to see more of them.

sidenote: i really like how trees look in the last one, I honestly prefer them being sprites to another type of wall tile.
