I agree with your ideas. I will add, more realistic driving.
I have a lot of ideas for the garage:
- create a hub puller, on the model of the spring extractor but portable,
- further highlight the importance of electrical circuits. By making mini connection games for example
- be able to repair news elements in the laboratory : windows and lights
- that we can repair : pistons and connecting rods, pulleys, hub cover, cups, clutch thrust bearing, flywheel, camshaft cap
- that we can't repair : clutch disc (wear piece)
I would like to point out that I have over 400 hours on the game and that I love it!
Sounds more like a 'Mechanical Engineering' shop. Regular 'Car Mechanics' don't do all that. In fact, the game allows us to 'repair' a lot more parts than regular mechanics in the real world actually repair. Most parts just get sent back to manufacturers to get refurbished. And, we just swap em out with a new (refurbished) part. Engine heads for example... we send those to a machine shop to get a 'refurbish' job done on them... if they actually 'can' be re-worked. A lot of times, parts have too much damage to them and aren't in good enough condition to fix them. They just go into the scrap metal bin to be melted down... or garbage if they're not recyclable. Really, if some game devs wanted to, they could turn the whole repair side of this game into it's own game. Maybe call it 'Mechanical Engineer Simulator' but, that isn't what car service shops do normally.
I agree. For this I was also wondering if a repaired part should be limited for example to 90%. Or make a separate category for used parts.
The problem with adding real life brands and logos is; The dev team would have to purchase rights from all those brand owners. They already have to do that with the cars they use for DLC and it's a bit of a Pita--which is why there are several brands that have never made it to DLC. That probably won't happen. However, modders can get away with it and do make mods for that. I figure they get away with it cuz companies don't figure it's worth bothering with to go after some nobody who has practically nothing to go after... idk.
