steamdeck mod download error fix [solution]
i have no idea why but for a few months i could not use mods, i've no idea why or how especially since mods have worked flawlessly in the past but nowadays every time i tried to download a mod it told me to unsubscribe and redownload in an on-screen message but i found a quick-ish workaround if you have the issue described. 1st go into the settings page for tmodloader in steam (the cog icon) and under the compatibility tab and enable proton experimental 2nd under the general tab and go down to launch options and type SteamDeck=1 (type it with caps and all) 3 launch tmodloader, the game will struggle to launch on its first attempt can take 20 min so step 4 (optional) can make that wait time lower if you use deckyloader (highly reccomend if you don't use it), in the plugin tab (the plug icon in your right system menu) you can go and get the power tools plugin you can use the power tools plugin and do 4 things enable the frequency limits switch and set the minimum (MHz) to 1600 then in the other fequency limit tab set the minimum (MHz) to 3500 set the SMT to 8 threads and lastly set the powerplay limits slow PPT (W) to 29 and set the fast PPT (W) to 30. step 5 when launching after a 2 min or more launching sequence in steam a old terminal command thing will show up you do not have to type anything just wait, the command dialog is the game recognizing that you are not launching the game on windows and you are launching on linux through proton experimental, the game should now launch after a min or two and you should now HOPEFULLY be able to use mods but to be sure close the game compleatly and launch the game again to see if launching the game takes long on steams end (the termanal bit will still happen this is fine) if you partook in step 4 go back into the powertools plugin and scroll all the way down as far as you can go and select the defaults icon, in step 4 you were essentially overclocking your CPU & GPU so going back to your defaults when tmodloader is fixed will prevent your steamdeck from getting damaged (overclocking is safe in moderation though so don't worry doing this trick only for this fix won't cause any harm unless you dont select the defaults icon in the plugin) i hope this helps even if it only helps one person out there have a nice day and sorry for yappin :3
