Workshop Mod Sorter
I didn't like sorting mods in game and couldn't find an already existing program to use to do so, so I made one in Python. I suppose if there were another game that used a workshop.txt file like HL2 does, my app would probably work for that too, but I don't know any myself.

Check it out here, and make sure you read the instructions, feel free to leave me comments here or there if you have issues or suggestions for improvement:

Wait… you said you don’t like sorting mods ingame. But you can select them in the workshop tab of hl2 properties menu.

I'm not talking about the in-game load order sorting. I'm talking about the workshop tab in the properties menu you get by right clicking the HL2 icon in the games tab. You can sort them by load order, name, date subscribed, missing dependencies, etc.

I've been told that this menu you're referring to doesn't actually sort them ingame, which is the goal here - is that incorrect?

No problems so far. Except that sometimes, the loading order doesn’t match the one in the in-game menu, but only in a 1 to 3 positions above/below the desired mod’s position. But it’s minimal considering this way you can send an item immediately to the top . And save the activated mods of your choice in “packs”. This problem happens if you subscribe to a lot of items in a short time. Any crash, missing mod or missing texture/model/script/etc can be fixed by verifying file integrity.

I'll feel mighty stupid if that menu does in fact save the load order, but I didn't think it did.

Thanks for trying it out, it's my first program of any kind ever, so I'm just glad that it works at all.

Not sure if this is allowed, not sure if this will work, but: BUMP. I've seen a few threads with people requesting exactly this without knowing I've made exactly this and posted it on here for them to use.

Hey just wondering, is the game completely closed when you're changing the order? If not then that may be the cause of that happening. Otherwise I'm still unsure why that may be happening.

Bump because people are still asking about this and apparently I'm not worthy of a sticky.

The properties workshop tab does absolutly nothing, just wasted an hour sortering them and the ingame workshop loadorder was unchanged , this new tool is way better

So is the stuff at the top of the list loaded first? Or... Which mods will exactly be loaded first?
