I would think by adding the ability to set Alerts, they would also need to set alert levels... like Alert5 would be on the cats ready to go with pilots in the cockpits... Alert 15, 30 would be either on the cat without pilots or parked with a huffer ready to start, etc.
So I would think from a programming standpoint, "holding" a launch of two aircraft would be easier to accommodate and more of a workaround... but having an "ALERT" selection prior to launching would be more realistic. Maybe even as a loadout... "Alert ATAI" for Alert Air to Air Intercept alongside "Air to Air Long Range" or "Air to Air", etc.
