2 things I've learned are traps in this game.
Caravans and becoming a kingdom.

Caravans as they endlessly get attacked. don't make much money and your leaders getting captures constantly is infuriating.

Declaring yourself a kingdom opens you up to declarations of war from everyone, even long time allies of the same race that have no reason to attack you.
