Why are all the cool weapons just reskins?
Like if you look at something like the Polyphemus, yeah sure it makes more sense to be a loose cannon reskin then demo having another cannon but so many cool weapons are just thrown aside as reskins instead of being given actual stats, the only actual weapon I could find was the mine layer in the workshop which had stats.

The way workshop creators preview their weapon in-game is by replacing an existing one. Since Valve is more likely to accept reskins (e.g. the CAPPER), this is a win-win for exposure if the creator also releases their content as a mod on GameBanana. On that site, you literally sort by mods by what weapons are reskinned.

As for stats, Valve always does their own thing. Workshop users have never had input on what a new weapon does, even if the creator lists some stats themselves.

Reskins haven't been accepted for years. Same with new weapons. Honestly, most uploaded to the workshop today are passion projects made for fun.

I get why Valve won't add new weapons, because of the "source spaghetti, rebalancing, treadmill work" BS. But, giving that they've been adding so many maps lately, I'm surprise they didn't gave the same treatment for weapon reskins.

Although, I would only be willing to add a smg and a stock shotgun reskins.
