I've been plugging away learning the ins and outs of the Workbench and quite early on I started to notice that it's easy to inflate the build cost by using micro-controllers redundantly to perform similar operations on different sensors or equipment. No worries, I thought, perhaps the Custom micro-controllers would allow for a way to more economically condense functions and logic operations, and sure enough it wasn't even that hard to figure out.

Which then blows my mind when I noticed that Custom MCs from here on the Workshop or ones which I've just rigged in-game don't have the same build cost. There's loads which work out as being $2 a pop, while a 2x2 or 2x3 custom chip that combines a $20 prebuilt logic element and an $80 Function costs... $100 or More!

So please, can someone explain to me how to get the most out of custom MCs by minimising the build cost?
