Mods Crash on Steam Deck
Just wanted to bring this to the Deck community's attention.

The vanilla game works well on Steam Deck, but it seems mods will crash the game when you try to load a save file. I've managed to get a few character mods working without issue, but it seems after a certain number of mods the save file will just not work. And I'm not talking about a big number, I'm talking around 6 or more.

For example if I have Mod 1, Mod 2, Mod 3, Mod 4, Mod 5, and Mod 6 all loaded, I have no issues. If I try to also load Mod 7, when trying to load a save file it will crash. However, let's say I remove Mod 6 in favor of Mod 7. The file will load fine. Then lets say I remove Mod 5 in favor of Mod 6. The file loads fine. So in my experience, it's not a mod conflict issue, but a mod quantity issue. Not sure if the file size of the mods come in to play, though.

I found a command line to put into launch options while googling around that fixes this issue entirely, but the side effect is the game thinks you have two controllers registered at the same time and causes Hat/Bow Kid to run around in circles. The command line is:

PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command% -noverify

Does anyone else have this experience, or know of any solutions? Would be great to be able to play custom levels without issues on the Deck.

Thanks for the reply! This is exactly what I did, but I found it on another website. It works, but the side effect is the game thinks there are two controllers and makes Hat/Bow Kid run in a circle. And I can't really figure out how to stop that. I'll reply in the link you sent, see if they can help out.

Cheers!
dear god... this actually worked! thanks!
