Worth making maps?
I'm thinking of buying this game, and maybe making a few maps for it. (particuarly for that Western Front mod)

Unfortunately I've been hearing that virtually no-one plays custom maps, so maybe putting the time and effort into creating them would be a waste of time.

Is this the case? If so I'll still buy the game, but probably when it goes on sale, if not I'll buy it at current price.

That sounds unfortunate, but I'm not sure that completely answers the question...

Yes, and No. It all depends on the quality, some maps that have been made during contests that tripwire hosted have been made official (Kobura, Otorishima, Arad 2, etc). If you're making maps for a mod like HotW, then yes, you have a good chance that it will be played, provided the mod succeeds. Generally speaking, the average player is only interested in "official" maps, but there are some, and adding the connection of a well received mod, would most likely enable you to make maps, and have people play them consistently.
