no Steam Deck keyboard support?

the on screen keyboard doesn't seem to work Is this something that can be fixed through steam workshop?

I created a profile on my pc and loaded the cloud save on the deck, but it's a bandaid to a flesh wound. I dream about being able to use the on screen keyboard and combining it with the power of steam input.
