How to design a Car?
Hello,
I have been playing Automation for quite some time, (before steam) and in that time I have always wanted to make my own car bodies with 3dsMax, especially since an 80s wedge doesnt really exist. I have designed a very very very rough car but I dont know how to get it into the game, let alone make it function. I have read several of the wikis on this and tutorials on the youtube videos but links to previous cars dont work. I am looking for a simple "Guide" as it were, even if its complicated enough for me to interperet and I'll make one myself as I cannot find a step by step instruction on what to do; Just parts of tutorials that dont follow any order and even those arent made for people, like myself, who cant really think all wibbly wobbly timey whimy ( sorry rewatching doctor who, read the entire thing in matt smith's voice, it'll sound cooler.) So yeah, I am looking to collate all the information. So far I know of an outdated wiki page, youtube videos from the automation page with outdated files and the automation website that only has tutorials on how to make grills.

Any help would be great.

Thanks, and Stick around, we'll have some fun!

The videos should have most of the information that you need, although I agree trying to find the one bit of info that you need might be a PITA.

The first thing you need is 3DS max 2013 32bits.

The example files will only open with the 2013 version, and the exporter does not work with the 64bits version.

For the rest, you can come join us on IRC. A few modders hang in there quite often and we could help you with your various issues.

Sounds cool, and yes I wish I had started researching first as I have 2014 64bit and not 2013 32 bit so I cant export my car model :(
