Would someone please send me these models?
i am attempting a small project but i require a couple models from the game that i have no idea how to get access to. i have the game and the serious editor but i dont know how to get access to the models. just the serious sam player model and the double barrell shotgun. i am attempting to port them over to l4d2 and am following a tutorial that uses blender so i think i need to have these 2 models in the proper format for me to open them.
if you can thatd be a big help and you will be credited on the final version. thanks.

You should be able to export those models into the FBX format from the editor, and then load that into Blender. IIRC Blender has FBX import.

i am sorry but i do not know how to do that, i dont see an option to change the format of the model, or to export the model. i was able to finalize a model at one point, after that it was called SeriousSam.mdl but that couldnt be opened in blender sadly. i hate to ask but would you happen to have a tutorial i can follow on how to do that? a quick google search didnt really turn up anything.
thanks for your help with this thus far, i do very much appreciate it, i know its not always ideal to direct a noob so thanks a ton.

* Load the model you want to export
* Make sure the "Command bar" side bar on the right side is visible (View>Command bar)
* On the Command Bar, under the "Common" section, click on "Export fbx"
* Choose where you want the FBX saved.

That should save the mesh together with skeleton. It will also include the currently selected animation (if any is selected), though that's of limited use.

i am assuming that i am doing something wrong here, when i export the FBX file it doesnt appear where i had saved it. there isnt anything new in the folder at all, i am assuming that the file would be called something like SeriousSam.fbx but nothing like that appeared in the folder. at the bottom in the tab called "Local" when it finishes doing whatever its doing after i export it it says "only one mesh must be selected" so i think that has something to do with it, but i cant figure out where to go from there.

Which model exactly are you exporting? Please post the entire path to the document that you open.
Thunder Wolf VX 3 Apr, 2014 @ 3:38pm
thats actually a little confusing in itself, the file appears in the C: but the path starts at Content, so its Content/SeriousSam3/Models/Player/SeriousSam and the file itself is called SeriousSam.MDL. just in case i am doing something wrong from the start here, i just go to file-open-document.model and that brings up the window with the path i mentioned before.

When you have that document open, you can always go to the menu "File>Copy document path" to be sure which one you are looking at. But, yeah I see which one you want.

Anyway, it seems there's a bug here, that it doesn't save anything to disk in some cases. I tried it and get the same results as you - nothing. I have reported this as bug #31250 . We will get back to you here when it is fixed.

Thanks for the report!

ahhh ok, thanks for the clarification on that, i appreciate it a great deal. i was pretty well convinced that i was doing something wrong there so thats a major relief. thanks for getting back to me with that, hope it can be fixed. thanks again.
