Will we ever see modifications or custom assets for Tropico 5?
I have been a disgruntled fan of this series for some time. I say disgruntled because the problem that I have with Tropico is the DLC. Tropico 5 was simply un-finished and I feel many have been forced to purchase DLC for content that they should already have. That and the fact that - to my knowledge Tropico STILL does not offer a "one purchase = all DLC" sale - makes me feel those at Kalypso are conning us all.

But to the point: Custom assets exsist. At the moment they must be downloaded and added to the game much like SimCity 4 mods had to be "back in the day". Will we ever see the day when Kalypso opens up the workshop - Cities Skylines style - and stops nickle-and-diming their fans with questionably-motivated DLC?

In an effort to clarify the above. I am a huge: HUGE fan of the Tropico series, but I belive that Kalypso may find many many MANY more fans by opening up this game to modification. Besides, I am sure that Tropico 5 has aged well enough to let the DLC milk-money go and truley embrace the community.

I know FACTUALLY: that there are many fans of this series who refuse to buy Tropico 5 based upon Kalypso's "we need to squeeze our own fans for money" marketing mentality.

If Kalypso opened Tropico 5 to modification Cities Skylines style: sales of Tropico 5 would skyrocket - one last time for Kalypso while fans of the series would all at once embrace it whole-heartedly again - and enjoy the game for many more years to come. Not only that: They would purchase Tropico 6 because they would once again trust in Kalypso.

I have never in my life come across a game with such a love-hate relationship among fans of the game... well, there is Sim City, but Kalypso didn't "fu*k up massivly" like Maxis. It's their slow and deliberate chipping away of the once-dedicated fan base by this crap DLC and lack of ... ears apparenly - that has them in a bad way.

Really. This is not rocket science Kalypso. In a ANYTHING-building genre, the workshop is the future. Listen to your fans - the die hards that you still have - like myself - who are stating things that or seem so plainly obvious to the rest of the world, it could make someone wonder if anyone at Kalypso has even played a city building game other than their own.

Not listening: is the ultimate sin a game developer can commit. It's unforgivable: so much so that a company like Maxis: that INVENTED the whole city-building genre, can be gone overnight as a result of "closed ears and stubborness".
Cities Skylines is going to fill the void that Sim City created so well that I honestly beleive that we may not see another Sim City published for perhaps a decade: if ever.

Kalypso. Embrace your fans and for the love of GOD. LISTEN TO THEM... or some tiny little company is going to do it for you... and Kalypso - a company that really only publishes one game that anyone has ever heard of: Tropico... will go the way of Maxis. And this: coming from an honest fan: If you don't listen, I will embrace the day that Kalypso crumbles.

Nailed it... Game needs more than new maps. New content and more importantly a way to change up the factions and game mechanics. In it's current form the game is just tedious. Hell, the election rubber-banding is enough reason to not buy the game.

Loved the last one, but this one is tedious.
