Has Anyone done a Diablo/Fable/Torchlight Config?
I want to do one for torchlight but here's my question.

In these games, the mouse is the forward and clicking on an enemy/box is the attack.

There are no WASD or targetting controls.

So what I am wondering is if anyone has made profiles for games where this is that case and if so, how did you get that to work reasonably for non-melee combat?

I did some tweaking with Torchlight 2. By default you hold button ` on keyboard to move after the cursor so movement isn't a big deal, in my current bindings ` is set to LT to LT + left stick = move. Targetting control is very user-dependent though, it depends on your playstyle/class/screen resolution/zoom level to adjust mouse speed/mouse acceleration for ranged combat. I'll try to upload a TL2 profile to workshop soon.

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=497325345 please tell me how it goes :squirtyay: Need more testing on ranged combats. Outlander gameplay is OK so far.

Oh thank you! Will copy that combination over to the Torchlight I profile and see if it needs tweaking.

And yes, I think the prob is going to be the ranged combat because in games like that, the player mouse-clicks the opponent and it auto-fires. I know ppl play Diablo I and II with controllers and apparently, it's much better that way--which makes sense.

Sorry to be stupid here but I am lookin at your Torchlight II profile and am I working from the primary bindings or the secondary bindings?

Secondary bindings are full of quickslot buttons at the moment, those are easy to change I think. Primary bindings need testing. I'm not sure if binding ' to LT is the right idea since you can hold A/LMB and joystick to run after all. Maybe it's better to bind Ctrl to LT and skip ' button altogether.

Also, mouse movement for this kind of game still feel super awkward lol. Sometimes the cursor feel not fast enough, other times not slow enough. These problems never appear if you simply use an actual mouse to play the game.

I think we shall have to do some mucking about with them to get a workable compromise in gameplay.

I found the original lay out for k/m. Dunno how we're remap that for ease. I am gonna try, though...

Windows Action
PC Mouse.png Move the cursor.
PC Mouse Left Click.png Select menu items, move character to desired position, use left click assigned ability, target enemy or object, or click and drag inventory items.
PC Mouse Right Click.png Use right click assigned ability.
PC Mouse Wheel UpDown.png Camera zoom in/out.
Tab Toggle between right click abilities.
1 – 0 Activate the ability assigned to the hotkey.
[ ] Automap zoom in/out.
+ - Camera zoom in/out.
Esc Pause (show game menu).
Space Pause (show character sheet and inventory panels, character close-up view).
F1 – F12 Bind hotkey to item that mouse is over, while spell foldout is open.
Enter Pauses game and shows a 360 degree view of your character.
Menu shortcuts
Windows Shortcut
A Automap toggle.
C Character sheet.
S Skills.
I Inventory.
P Pet sheet.
Q Quests.
J Journal.

I know ppl play Diablo with controllers all the time. Wonder how they worked that out?

Ack, not workable so far. "Shift" an auto target so I am thinking that needs to be added into the movement somehoe.

Most of the controls above are mapped to my current profile, except for F keys ( ran out of buttons to put them on ). I'll try to see if putting ' on X or Y and Ctrl on LT works.

Also Diablo III has native controller support. Probably some key combinations that CC can't put out yet.
GeekGranny 10 Aug, 2015 @ 7:17pm
I thought Diablo III didn't have it but ppl were using Pinnacle or Xpadder to map it?
Madn3ss 5 11 Aug, 2015 @ 7:26am
Right, my mistake. Some ppl managed to copy to exact control scheme of D3 on console to a controller on PC using joy2key, however CC is much less advanced than j2k when it comes to games.

I swapped LT=' for LT=Ctrl on my current TL2 profile and messed around with it. Holding A (LMB ) to run feels less natural than holding LT but I don't really miss the former setup. When playing TL2 using KBM I never used ' button anyway.

There's prolly some useful workarounds. Perhaps over time the devs will add some features. We could be ahead of the trend ;)

Slowed mouse speed settings and back+LT/RT seems like great additions. Time to relaunch the project :crt:
