Help Identify mod by mod storage GUID key
My SE got updated to Automatron and one save file is unable to Save.
Logs point towards Storage component key that is too long for saving.

SE Log is like this

"29ffd684-13d7-4045-bf76-cd48bf80e36a" point towards 58 unknown mod storage sections and key value is 490 character long.

Game refuse save world in any means (Save / Save as) only throw error that say:

Game running out of memory when handling files

Can confirm that's one of MES's guids. I haven't gotten any similar reports.

If you had MES in the world and then removed it, try adding it again or see if there are leftover NPC grids in the world that can be deleted. If you have it in the mod list but you're getting that error, you may need to clear your mod cache and redownload it - nothing with that key has changed recently that would cause those errors.

Hi, follow the steps we all do after a game update to find the mods that needs to be removed and reported.

How to test a world or find broken/conflicting Mods :

1 - Select your save.
2 - Click the "Save as" button on the left.
3 - Change the save name to create a *copy.
4 - Withdraw or add one Mod at a time in the copy.

5 - Report to the Mod author (on WS item page) when broken Mod found so he can fix/update his Mod, always very kind to let them know.

Never test with your original save, better create a copy and fix the original save when solution found in the copy, this way you will not mess up your save.

-> it's Very important to create a "Testing copy" after a game update to find the Mods that are not compatible with the new game version.

+ Important
-> Must keep the original saves that are saved in the previous game version, this way we can install the previous game version to recover if needed.

The other game versions are here :

- Right click on Space Engineers in your Steam Library.
- Go to properties.
- Go to Betas tab.

Note
The first one on top of the Betas list named "None" is the current game version (public download).

1. I edit world save file with notepad++ and remove that long key (empty key) for all sections of "29ffd684-13d7-4045-bf76-cd48bf80e36a" i find.
Mostly ships had this mod storage section.
2. I Removed trash ships
In game mod menu i removed all mods that have scripts behind (scripts folder).

Game load without problem but game still give me same error on (save/save as).
Log is same for edited world.

I guess game regenerate same 490 char key in RAM.
I have feel some "other mod" have this GUID mod as depency.

@Dan2D3D Save file worked week ago. Save stop "saving" when game update to Automatron.
I bet if i go to back to "last Warfare 2 build" my save will "save" as normal.

@Dan2D3D i know game have problems with long strings( google ).
I load SE to have fun and not debug my saves as your good friends ignore bugs.

I removed all ships + with generated name or numbers (npc) that had "Mod Storage" section.
I removed all "replicated/non replicated entitys" that name was (---)
All tiny 1 block trash (in-game admin menu).

Loaded that edited save without script mods and cleared all trash.
This fixed the problem.
Game save finally.

@Dan2D3D you can close this topic now issue i resolved.
Tell your Keen friends that Automatron update broken "save / save as" by mods that use scripts with long GUID keys.

To be honest I don't have this bug to help the programmers and you have the bug, also the world and log so the best member to report direclty to the SE Programmers and have the fix ASAP.

Well I did not tested all my saves because I about 3000 saves in atm but all copies created loaded Ok so far, even one old world created before Pertam was added loaded OK.

= I don't have this problem so far (fingers crossed)

@Dan2D3D You know they ignore this stuff on their support site.
I seen many bugs been ignored there :)
Unless 200 people has same issue. ha ha ha
Color code mods in "mod menu" that have scripts folder will be good suggestion.
You can tell them that, and i bet many users will be happy when debugging saves.
Even keen will like you more.

No, well they don't ignore the reports I made, they always reply something at least and even one Petition I have created is now in-game with only 14 votes on my petition.

You are "known person". That is a difference.
I think this bug will grow bigger as it is in engine roots.
Do not worry keen will notice when scripts stop working due to long generated strings.
