And how much you want to add new things: Just to combine premade ones vs. to make new guns/doctrines/artworks, etc.
Supposing the easiest case, 0.5 hour to plan yours, 1 hour to read an example and roughly understand it, 1 hour to implement it, 1 hour to test and debug, 1 hour to prepare for unexpected issue.
There is a test mod made by dev, so unzip and enable it:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DoorKickers2\mods\template_new_squad_with_custom_deploy_ui.zip
Also the playable unit mods here would help you.
I heard mod community in the official Discord channel, but I am a lonewolf modder 90% of the time.
