If you played Jurassic World, this will feel pretty similar, but a bit more advanced. I strongly suggest playing through at least the first 2-3 scenarios of the starter campaign as they will gradually introduce the concepts and give you time to get the hang of the basic stuff.

Well, you don't have to refuel generators every five seconds, but there is a reasonable and manageable amount of tedium in this game. As to ease of play, there is a bit of a learning curve, but once you get past that it's pretty much gravy. I recommend start with one exhibit... place your staff buildings, hire one of each keeper and caretaker, then buy one gold awarded critter of your choosing (I prefer to start with a fast breeder so I can sell the newborns) and just tinker with the controls and settings.
