How come there was so many car mods on car mechanic sim 2018, and so little on 2021?

I don't understand porting stuff between games, but the lack of car mods between the two is a significant amount and I've seen ported models, is it just a case of the mod creators not taking interest, or something else like porting it to a different game engine?

I believe it may have just been a lack of interest. I'm not 100% certain but, it doesn't seem like it would be difficult (at all) to modify the 2018 mods to work in 2021 version. However, some of the modders of the 2018 version didn't bother buying the 2021 version due to lack of interest--I've speculated. So, some mods never made the switch. But, there was also some political turbulence about Workshop mods back in the 2018 version and some modders refused to load their mods to workshop even back then. So, I can only imagine they also didn't want much to do with the 2021 version. It will be up to new(er) modders interested in this version... if we are to see more mods coming. With talk of an even newer version of CMS being in the works, some modders 'could' be holding out--waiting for the new version to drop. Again, speculation on my part. Others OP may differ.
