Welcome to the Euro Truck Simulator 2 workshop!

My mod was removed and I'm not sure why.
The mod was uploaded explicitly for personal use hence why it was set to 'Hidden', it is also easier for me to just have it uploaded than to wrangle storing local mods all over or making backups in other cloud services while the Workshop already exists.

Yes, I used an existing mod as a way to learn how to make something since it is the most efficient way for me to learn as the guides online are really convoluted- I honestly thought it'd be okay as, again, I play alone and I made it for myself with Workshop allowing me to manage everything better.
It's how I use it for every other game as well and everything is fine there.

Is the reason for removal solely being the fact that I used an existing mod despite no one being able to use it but me or because people would have to subscribe to it if I'd choose to play online? (idk how online play with mods works)

Using and modifying another author's mod for your own use is fine. Uploading that work to Steam is not fine. ;)

Dumb logic considering that every other Workshop allows uploading private mods for personal use, but okay.
It's not so dumb, mod creators spent a lot of time on them, so it's great that not everyone can share it as their own.

I assume you had good intentions, but it's not difficult to change a mod from hidden to public.

Not every mod is made to be some kind of public product for people to mindlessly consume despite the seemingly common agreement from consoomers that they should be.

At least now I know the thought police exists here.

There is a difference between uploading a mod you created for personal use and uploading someone else's mod, changed or not, for personal use.

If all you were uploading were the changes to that mod, which would require you (or anyone else) to have that mod installed already, there would be no issue.

But when you upload someone else's work, even when you make changes to it, you are uploading someone else's work.

There is also no setting in the workshop that limits a mod to just you. At all settings your mod is visible to a number of people.

The only way to have a 'private' mod is to keep it on your own computer.

I love the mods dogpiling on me because they don't want it to look like all of this happened because of them.

Can this thread get locked already so we can get this over with?

This happened because you uploaded someone else's mod to the Workshop.
