“Looking for Blender/3D help for Civ VI ancient civ mod”).
Hi everyone!

I'm working on a major mod for Civilization VI that will introduce 8 new civilizations—each with its own historical leader and one unique historical unit. I already have almost all the code written and the leader graphics prepared, but I’m currently stuck at the stage of creating and editing unit models and equipment in Blender.

My mod will include:

Parthians

Dacians

Germans

Thracians

Illyrians

Etruscans

Vandals

Visigoths

For each civilization, I’ve already prepared detailed concepts and finished graphics for the unique units (historical concepts, sketches, references, and different weapon/armor variants).
I’d really like each unique unit to feature several variants of shields or helmets (e.g., within one unit type, different warriors have different shield or helmet designs)—I have all the necessary textures and patterns ready for this to add visual variety.

Most of the work on models is about:

UV unwrapping,

texturing (applying the shield/helmet/unit graphics to the meshes),

adjusting existing meshes to fit the specific units.

I can handle simple mesh edits in Blender (like resizing or reshaping a shield), but more advanced things—especially UV unwrapping and professional texturing—are a struggle for me.
My biggest problem, however, is creating or modifying the skeletons (rigging the units)—I just get lost, and Blender (and similar programs) are quite complex for me. Learning all this takes me a lot of time, and I often get stuck without really understanding why something has to be done a certain way.

On top of that, I can't use the Asset Editor—it simply doesn't work on my computer, no matter what I try, so I'm forced to do everything in Blender.

I'm ready to share everything I have—files, graphics, reference sketches, screenshots, unit/civ descriptions.
My dream is to give other players the chance to enjoy these civilizations and play them in Civ VI.
If I can learn to do this more efficiently, or if I can find someone interested in working with me on future improvements and new features, I’d love to create even more projects like this together!

I'm really determined to finish this project—I'm a huge Civ VI fan and I just can't stand the thought of leaving it unfinished, but I'm aware that I might not be able to do it alone. I simply need support from someone who understands this workflow, so my mod can finally see the light of day.

The mod will be completely free and available for everyone on Steam Workshop.
