For those unfamiliar, Zipang is a story (manga and 1 season of anime) about a modern helicopter destroyer from the JMSDF going back in time to the events of WWII. I've only seen the anime, but even in that it has a lot of interesting scenarios that play out which would make for a very interesting set of missions. Maybe someone who's read the manga and seen more of where it goes could better comment on whether sticking to the events of the story would be the more interesting decision of whether it would be more fun to perhaps take the story in a slightly alternate path that allows for more decision making from the player as to what to do in the scenarios. IE taking situations that were solved with minimal loss of life in the story and amping them up to be more hot and therefore more fun for the player.

Having a brief look at the workshop, it looks like there aren't too many 1940's assets yet, so maybe this will spark a bit of interest.

If you disagree with my take that the story would make for some interesting missions, then I'd love to hear your thoughts, that is to say I'd love to hear arguments as to why sticking to the plot's version of events would/wouldn't be fun to play.

If you're not familiar with Zipang, then what do you think about a story that is borderline military propaganda while at the same time being really compelling and interesting in it's own right?
