this isn't necessarily what i think is the BEST (just sue me already) but a mod I so desperately want to like because it does so much unique and interesting stuff I have never seen any other mod do is SGAMod
there's so much cool stuff and it's really charming but god I can just never bring myself to actually play it past pre-hardmode
there's so many things that feel like they're going against the player it can feel pretty miserable to play at times but it's such a unique and wonderful experience all-the-same
best would just be calamity mod imo but that's also a boring answer

ah my apologies, I should've mentioned SGAmod is only available on 1.3
I don't know of many 1.4 mods as I can't stand 1.4 in general

Spirit Mod adds a few new weapons and items, Liber Creaturarum adds more mobs.

in my opinion ( its only in TmodLoader ) vein miner and 2x faster mining IT HELPS SAVE TIME ALOT

no clue if it's been said but: "Mod Of Redemption" it is in beta but still amazing.
