Play mods without publishing?

Hi everybody, is it possible to play a mod which isnt published? Is there maybe a folder i can copy it to? I created a mod, which isnt family friendly, but i want to play it with friends. I also would like to bugtest my mods before publishing and i dont want to use the editor playtesting feature. I want the real game experience with own avatars. In the game i can only choose my published mods. Is there a workaround?

Before publishing you can select the visibility of the mod. You could choose private for bug testing and friends only for your private group. With both, it won't be in the workshop for everyone.
