[RE] How to change player health in SP/CO-OP
Sooo... Ground enemys in RE are hard. Like one-shot hard. Plus weired NPC spawn mechanic (just right in your face, or right behind), lags and other stuff...
I have heavy armor with red armor booster (~325 armor total) and it's not enough.
So I wander - is there any way to rise player's max HP? 1k-5k to be exact. From some files or with other light modding.
I want withstand ~10 shots. Like in most old-school shooters!
My buddy almost quit the game after we died in abandond bunker (EASY! planet in Alpha) like 10 times from all sorts of legacy soldiers (one-shot snipers, burna flamethrowers, etc.)
Please help bring vanilla level of ground fights back :(

Nope. That's how it works in vanilla too, and also no. It cannot be changed.
For every % of durability lost, armor value goes down an equal % (though isn't displayed).

If you want vanilla then play it, right? Sorry but RE doesn't seem to be for you. 5k Player HP ROFL......

The infected NPCs in vanilla are worse.

The abandoned bunker is one of the hardest abandoned POIs in the game. It is most definitely not "easy".
There is no difference in spawn mechanics between vanilla and RE.

An infected alien soldier in vanilla deals 760 base damage per second. (315 damage with 250 vanilla armor)
An infected alien soldier in RE deals 350 base damage per second. (84 damage with your 325 RE armor)

Armor in RE has higher armor value offering more protection; with that "red" booster you have providing more than double anything in vanilla. Which would be 375 armor, not 325.
You can already increase your maximum health with food which you cannot do in vanilla.

Are you even aware that your armor's protection reduces corresponding to it's durability?
Broken or damaged armor provides almost no protection from damage.
Does not damaged armor still provide 100% protection until its durability is zero? Pretty sure that's the way it works in Vanilla.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

TL:DR
FPS Shooter mechanic in this game is cluncky and there is no easy way to mod this to my preference.
Time for nasty cheating then.

You can mod the player max health but it normally requires a new game start after modifying the value.

It is done in the EClassConfig.ecf file.
Since you are playing a custom scenario you would have to modify the EClassConfig that is located inside the scenario folder inside your steam workshop folder and then start a new save afterwards.

You are looking for 2 different entries, depending on if you play with a male or female character.
In the case of RE from the workshop, here is the typical file location.
Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\383120\2550354956\Content\Configuration

From there you want to open the EClassConfig.ecf file.
Line 32 is the max health for a male character. Change it from 500 to any value you desire.
If you use a female character it is on line 84.

Save the file and start a new save afterwards and you will have that new max health.
Keep in mind that this file will be overwritten any time the scenario updates, HOWEVER, since this particular max health value is only used on new game start, as long as you start the save before the file gets overwritten it will keep that max health in your save.

I see this post was made two years ago, just wanted to say that its sad the only people who commented are useless and no help.

Anyway, to hopefully be of some actual help instead of a waste of space to anyone else looking for the answer. You can modify the max HP of players by going to /Content/Configuration/EClassConfig.ecf and change the value of MaxHealth to whatever you want.

There is one of those lines for each of the Male and Female sections in that same file. Sorry this came 2 years too late, just too bad that only lazy children commented on a post they know nothing about. Enjoy!!!

This thread is regarding Reforged Eden 1, which has long been discontinued.
With Reforged Eden 2 enemy damage, levels and player armor were overhauled based on player feedback.
  • Enemies do not spawn as any level above level 4.
  • Enemy damage is determined based on player health and standard armor usage.
  • Player suit boosters do not give any negative effects (E.g. Armor boosters do not penalize speed)
  • Player armor degrades at 1/2000th the speed of RE1/Vanilla.
  • 60% of the game's negative status effects have been removed, the remaining status effects were rebalanced and/or consolidated with medication management simplified.
  • All the old Vanilla POIs were removed and replaced with custom-built POIs designed specifically for the scenario that do not suffer from trap spawns and enemies appearing behind you (unless you missed them).
TwitchyJ gave the correct instructions to change the player's health, which you did not. Had anyone playing RE edited the file you specified, it would have had zero effect on them.

WOW......

My post from 2023, DIRECTLY ABOVE YOURS, not only told you the file needed to modify, but also the exact line numbers for both male and female characters.

Get tf out of here with your garbage.
But I'm the "waste of space" here, right?
Learn to read.

What's odd is the OP marked this post as the answer. A response by Verillion to my question that had nothing to do with the OP's original question. LOL
I did learn something very valuable from my question. Thanks Vermillion. :)

Oh and TheTrueLM :steamfacepalm:
