Research tech mode
Hey everyone! I looked through and didn't find any mode with the idea of tech research. Maybe I'm wrong. Pls send a link with this type of mode.

I just think how cool it would be to dedicate time to learn how to make bronze and, in the future, learn how to make steel.

The level of technical progress depends on what resources a civilization has and how much time it spends to develop certain technologies.

For example, in a world of around 5 years - 99% of everyone will be in the Stone Age.

If the world around 100 years - some have already learned bronze, maybe even iron!

250 years - the Age of Iron, most developed civs already have steel!

Something like this and deepens on origin of civ (Dwarfs, Humans, Elves, etc)

So, like dwarfs learn how to work with gems and metals faster, Elves have better... idk, I didn't think that far (Open for your propositions!).
Humans may be better with agriculture.

I'm actually not good with coding, so maybe someone else can pick this idea.
I'm not sure if it is actually possible to do on how the code of the game works

That would be really nice, indeed
As you mentioned I'm not sure if the game modding allows for this type of mechanic but you can build pseudotek trees using custom workshop reactions and special items.

I played with a mod that introduced an in-depth magical system that revolved around workstations that would create items that give you "knowledge" tokens that you exchange for things or abilities or use in reactions as a permanent reagent.

Not sure how or if it would effect world level stuff, only played it briefly in fortress mode.
