Custom creations
Is there a way or possibility to create and import custom created content, I.e locomotives to the game?

I've tried and failed, any help would be appreciated

Did you create a workshop item through the game and a folder for your scripts and vehicle.

Then you have to add this tag in the workshop config file to port it into the game.

$OBJECT_VEHICLE <folder name>

I've done that to no avail, even if I download an item it don't load into my game.

There is something wrong with your script.ini then.

The mesh for your object has to be converted nmf and named main.nmf

Then you have to define a material.mtl file

Your texture has to be saved as a dds with dxt1 encoding with mini maps.

I've done the .nmf

I copied a material.mtl file from an in game one [temporarily use]

I have no idea what a texture is 🦧🤦🏼

The problem is in your material file because you can't just copy one from the game. The contents of the file for a mod should look something like this. The submaterial <name> should match the submaterial in the .nmf material. You can fine the submaterial by loading the .nmf into the model viewer or loading it into blender.

$SUBMATERIAL <name>

$TEXTURE_MTL 0 texture.dds
$TEXTURE_MTL 1 blankspecular.dds
$TEXTURE_MTL 2 blankbump.dds

$DIFFUSECOLOR 0.8 0.8 0.8 0.8
$SPECULARCOLOR 0.5 0.5 0.5 1.0
$AMBIENTCOLOR 0.8 0.8 0.8 0.8

$SPECULARPOWER 2

$END

The "texture" is the objects material flattened out into a dds file. The vehicle you are trying to import into the game should come with a texture file. It must be in .dds format not png or jpg

I finally got the texture thing worked out. Black is good right? Lol

Now to get it to the game?
