The only solution I've had for this is Trait Manager, which allows you to manually change a lord's trait to something else with memreader. Sadly...the author just announced they won't be updating the mod, and it doesn't work as of the latest hotfix. They've given permission for anyone else to continue it, so hopefully someone else will take it up.
