In the older rulebooks for Dwarf armies, Karak Eight Peaks isn't spoken of as a single hold. Specifically, when talking about its fall, Dwarf history tells that each individual mountain of the Eight Peaks were taken one by one, over the 200-year war between the Skaven, Dwarfs, and Goblins. The wording implies that Eight Peaks was so great because it was essentially the Dwarf version of New York City, with distinct separate districts that functioned like small cities unto themselves.

To whit, I wonder if anyone has made a mod which turns Eight Peaks from a single settlement into multiple settlements. Not necessarily 8, but perhaps its own small, compact region, in order to really capture the spirit of how Belegar, Skarsnik, and Queek never fully control the entire hold and must fight each other to hold their ground and try to take the rest.

For me, even all the way back in Total Warhammer 1, getting to Eight Peaks was the tricky part. Actually taking and holding the city was never as hard as the lore made it out to be. At the end of the day, it's just a major settlement like any other.
