Grab Vanilla Races Expanded - Insectors, and also get Reel's Insector faction, which makes use of both the insector race itself and the special bugs from VE Insectoids 2. You'll have raids of humanoid insectors with their bug friends, making for a bit of extra variety.

You might also want to check out Mr Samuel Streamer on Youtube, go to playlists, and look at his Insectoids 2 series, and maybe also the insect hive series, both of which add a lot of insect-related stuff you might want to add for enemies or whatever.

The Helldivers weapon pack is probably also a good idea, if you're doing bug hunting. Oh, and if you're doing cowboys, then Sam's Granny's Ranch series has a heavy cowboy theme that should probably give you plenty of mods to check out for your own guys.

There's also a faction called the Orostonians, who are heavily cowboy themed but also have some interesting gene stuff going on, plus custom weapons and the like, might be fun to base your own faction around them.
