Anyone having problems downloading mods from the Workshop?
So, this isn't a big roadblock issue, but it's very annoying nonetheless. What's happening is pretty self-explanatory:

Whenever I download or subscribe to a mod on the workshop or through the mod browser, it says "Downloading" on the top right. I wait for about a minute and that white bar has not moved an INCH. I left it to 'download' for a long time and my computer screen went into power saving mode, and by the time I came back it was still as if it never downloaded!

Now, yes, I did check to allow background downloads, I did check for high priority downloads. It's not like I can't download at all, because all I have to do is very integrity of the game files and it works and downloads. But that shouldn't be normal, they should be downloading without those extra steps! Anyone know what's happening?? I'm posting it here because

1. It's happening from the workshop.
2. This COULD count as a game bug but I'm willing to think it's a workshop bug.

Hi, the Workshop connection has been rotten for a while now, dunno what's going on. But frozen downloads, slow downloads, etc are frequent complaints. (The same happens with the SteamCMD back-end interface too.)

Exiting the game and Steam and relaunching both seems to help in many cases.

I wonder if the devs reduced their service agreement with Steam after the final game update, so that it's basically a slower tier now. They've mentioned the bandwidth usage for TpF2 is crazy high, and my understanding is that costs a lot.

Downloading mods is still best done offgame, as before, via an internet browser.

Fully restarting Steam or verifying the integrity of the game files should kickstart the downloads, if they have not started yet.
My bug is even worse, I've downloaded them directly from Steam Workshop (Not in-game, but in the Steam app), and the game is trying to download them again.
Having the same problem. And there is no way to fix it. All tried.

I am having a similar problem; Steam spends over an hour validating before opening the game (TF2). Then, if I open a saved game, it warns that the download list will be dropped. Does that ring a bell with any one else?
