You could create separate bundles for them.

Open %LOCALAPPDATA%\KillHouseGames\DoorKickers2\data

Create a /maps_bundles/ subfolder.
Go to where the game is installed/maps_bundles/ and see how one of those xml files is made.
Create a similar one in your appdata folder, move your own maps to a new folder and make the bundle.xml file point to them.

create a new folder there, yes, in the appdata user folder.
the game loads all xml file in maps_bundles/
make a my_awesome_bundle.xml and edit it to point to your maps, the ones in appdata/maps_wip
let me get this straight, i make a folder in /local/Killhousegames/dk2/data
i search for the maps_bundles folder in the game files i copy and modify it in the new folder and that's it?

yes. Read the modding instructions in the game's /mods/ subfolder. You can also download and browse similar mods (the ones that add map packs) and see how they're made.
