How to get a functioning game setup for a custom map?
Hi Guys,

I built a custom map according to the guide “How to make your first Red Orchestra 2 Map” provided by Danh {TP}. Link: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=119712041
After I completed all the steps of this guide I tried to run the map via the ineditor playing function. The result was that as soon as I chose my fraction the message appeared that the round was tied. So I added the MyMapInfo to my world properties. The result was that the round wasn’t tied anymore. I could now chose a fraction what until the count down for the game start finished and hover over my map.

I was a bit puzzled. Why couldn’t I be an actual soldier with a weapon and a Hud. I downloaded the UDK from the unrealengine.com website to compare that behavior. In the plain UDK I could run around with a weapon and shoot the floor. This you can see also in the tutorial videos of 3dbuzz. Anyway, that issue is related to a Red Orchestra specific setting.
I thought, what about the playing time of the round, the reinforcements or the classes of the available fractions. As soon as I added the MyMapInfo into my world properties I got a preset of 10 minutes per round and 200 reinforcements per fraction. I added some classes like commander and marksman to the MyMapInfo. Now I could choose a class after I chose a fraction. That’s great but still as soon as I spawned there was no weapon, no hud and apparently also no gravity. I was a camera hovering around on the map like before.
I changed the game type to territories but also this didn’t help. When I loaded the map TE-Apartments into my editor I spawned and had a weapon, gravity and a hud. So now my question to all you helpful community members and mappers who like to assist a creative person that is willing to dig himself into the ROSDK to create some more maps for a great title like red orchestra 2.

What did I do wrong or what did I miss out?

Please feel free to explain more than asked on my request if you see the lack of understanding by the setup of my map or my question.

My approach to this topic is this. I want to understand first how a map works and how it is published before I get myself involved in the moddeling. There are thousands of tutorials out there how to model but what helps the most beautiful map if no game can be played on it or it is never published.

I'll have a look tomorow if nobody help you before. I think it's a simple error you made in the kismet or world info.

I solved your map problem, right click on a playerstart actor, select, all playerstart actor, then right click on them, replace with, ROplayerstart actor

Click on the Build Path icon

Click on Play in Editor icon

I was then able to spawn as everything seems fine to me in kismet and in worldinfo. It was surely because you placed non RS playerstart actors or something else than RO player start actor?

Well buddy, you see that you are the only one who replied yet and you replied fast. So I have good reasons to show manners right. During the week it's not always easy to find time mapping. I will do my mapping tomorrow again. I'm eager to try what you wrote because it was really annoying not getting anywhere. So don't get upset with me bro. I'll for sure have more questions. ;)
