Do weapons replace like l4d2?`

I just want skins but NOOONNNE of the addons in teh workshop say "replaces X weapon". its like its its own thing

Different game engines. I don't think you will find anything like a complete replacer as you would in L4D, but there are reskins and I've even seen animation replacements. Most are as you said, "its its own thing" and require the server to have the same mods.
