BSP file is over 100 MB...what to do?
So the Workshop upload limit in Contagion is 100 MB per file but my BSP file is over that limit....

Will there be a bigger upload limit in the future like L4D2 which has 200 MB (They are using a different API for Steamworks uploads?) or is there another solution for this? Good escape maps are generally big so what's the point with the 100 MB limit :(

Will take a look at it but Barlowe which is the largest map made on Source is only 120mb. Thanks for the heads up.

Great to hear that! :D Yeah I checked the file size on barlowe square too. My map is not as big as Barlowe square but the details and lightning information does have a great impact on the file size.

There is a lot of optimization you can do for the lighting. Incresing the lightmap scale on surfaces without much lighting contrasts and in places the player can't see up close can shave off a lot of the file size.

Since Contagion doesn't seem to support turning off HDR, you can also disable the LDR lighting in VRAD by using the -hdr flag insted of -both. It should straight up halve the size of your lighting data.

Thx for the help Rectus :) I didn't know Contagion doesn't support turning off HDR, I will try to compile it only for hdr and look how big the file size is. I have considered about the lightmap scale too but the player can almost go everywhere since the map is mostly indoors so there is only a small part where I can decrease the lightmap scale.

Edit: Damn ok I overdid it now. My map has too many texinfos with my 3D skybox and won't compile now :( Is there a way to reduce the texinfos without deleting brushes? Hmm maybe I should turn them into props with propper....damn too many problems.

Yeah, propper is probably your best option unless you want to remove detail.

Thanks again! I turned off the 3D skybox for now and compiled it only with HDR and the size finally went under 100 MB now yay!! Will try out propper next :)
