You mean people can "mAkE" (as OP so aptly put) something good while not being a pixel artist? Shocker!
but no all we get is sprite rips that feel janky
and maybe that's a problem that its so hard to make characters i dunno
There are also sprite rips in Rivals too, and they're even jankier there. I'm not a pixel artist, so the characters that I made aren't exactly made to match Fraymakers' style. But what I CAN do is make sure to align every pixel in the animations to make sure they're as smooth as possible.
It's not because the mod is a sprite rip that it will automatically play janky, that's just not true. Plenty of people made incredible original art mods. But there's also plenty of people that made incredible sprite rip mods.
At the end of the day, if you only want to play with original art mods, there are plenty here too. But what defines whether it will play janky or not is the amount of effort the creator puts into their mod, nothing else.
why are you even bothering to mention rivals sprite rips im genuinely curious
anyway its really only hard to make characters if you're both inexperienced with art (hi) and really strictly want to follow the fray style, which was never their intention in the first place. Additionally, while there are more sprite rips on our workshop there are plenty of original art creations by several people in the community that have been released, and even more are gradually work in progress. And the obvious thing out the way - yes, rivals is infinitely more popular, and a finished game with a workshop that's been around for several years.
and yes there was cool stuff in early rivals workshop but it absolutely was not predominately full of characters with original art like they have now. ESPECIALLY if you're talking Week 1 Rivals Workshop, most of the workshop was still sprite rips back then.
But like, honestly? There's a big difference between a game that's been sold for several years, that already had it's footing with it's base game PLUS it's dlc, that's already had it's workshop community continue to develop over the course of several more years, that got plenty of coverage from people on several platforms,
To an early access game that's barely been around for a year that's still finding it's footing. If you want only original art creations that's fine. Check out Nyon, J-Dudd or some of salt's creations. They're pretty good. But keep in mind a lot of creators who are art heavy aren't particularly motivated to create things for a game that has like, a maximum of 10 players daily.
If you're put off by the amount of custom art characters we have then I would genuinely wait until this game gets more popular. Even when sprite rips are concerned, the workshop has slowed down tremendously compared to when early access first came out. Several of the items you'll see on the front page now were things that were released several months ago, nothing new.
I guess long story short wait a few years and come back after full release gets coverage LMAO
I'm curious what you are seeking.
idk
