good early game gear?

anyone know some good simple early game gear mods? the early game is always to most annoying part to me just to find the exact gear needed to make something of a survivor so some simple mods to like make poor but usable tools out of simple salvage would rock

i don't need anything overpowered or even strong. replacing them often is fine the point is just something I can reliably make early on when I salvaging from nothing
