Request : Rez like shooter that follows the beat

Me and Fusecavator (Creator of the DDR mod) were exchanging thoughts about what awesome mod we could see next and it came up to our mind if we could see a mod that can replicate the gameplay of Rez (albeit not perfectly)

I'd try to mess around with this idea, but for detecting whether enemies are under a cursor I'd need to convert game coords to screen coords, and I don't know any way to get a projection matrix, and I can't try to calculate one without being able to get the aspect ratio either.
