Can anyone explain creating map images better?

I've created a few airports, but, I do not understand the very limited instructions on creating the background image if you are using a real import. I don't get any type of panoramic option when using Google Maps.

i was using snazzy maps but im not sure how people are getting the clean grey maps. i dont see panoramic either in google maps? i also took it into photoshop and made a blue overlay layer but theres gotta be an easier way. any one know how to get a clean grey map.
