UPDATE: WOTC MODLAUNCHER IS NO LONGER BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE WITH NON WOTC MODS THAT WERE COMPATIBLE WITH WOTC
UPDATE: WOTC MODLAUNCHER IS NO LONGER BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE WITH NON WOTC MODS THAT WERE COMPATIBLE WITH WOTC, THIS MEANS:

You now MUST make your mod have WOTC as a requirement for players playing on WOTC, or make an standalone WOTC version.
Why?
The new way the modlauncher for Xcom 2 works is it shall now reject all WOTC mods for non-WOTC games, and vice versa for WOTC games.

In layman's terms: if you see that yellow circle by your mod in the WOTC modlauncher for Xcom 2, it will be rejected: there is no nuance for this. You now must check for this. If your mod has an yellow circle by it in WOTC's new launcher for Xcom 2? You HAVE to make it have an WOTC requirement, or make an standalone version that IS WOTC if you want to keep the original non WOTC version.

In even simpler terms: Your non-WOTC mods that were compatible with WOTC aren't anymore. Yellow Circle should be perceived as a yellow ring of death.

In simplest terms: Yellow Circle, mod no longer WOTC compatible, no exceptions.

And sidenote: if you're someone like me, who can't even load the old modlauncher? You MUST use the new modlauncher that rejects things, even if they were previously WOTC compatible.

Rip, hopefully people will make opposite copies so vanilla and WOTC can actually use the mod, since if it can be both in one, (like Commanders Choice,) then nobody can use it.

Just use AML

2k Launcher didn't load vanilla mods in wotc either.

does this cause the red save error?

There is a fix for this problem, however, its much easier to just use the Alternative Mod Launcher (AML).
