anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?

It looks like a graphics driver bug to me. Can you try updating your graphics driver or if that caused this issue roll back your driver to an earlier version?

thx for responding Marco...I reset my graphics card to its factory settigs and have the latest drivers in, I have ATI Radeon HD 4550, just dont understand why it chose now to do this after I have played the game for hours np, running Dx 11
