Dungeon Editor: The ups and the downs
I personally am delighted to have the ability to create my own Legend of Grimrock dungeons. It's simple to use, and at the same time you can get as complex as you need. I've been waiting for a while and my expectations have definitely been... nearly reached.
Don't get me wrong, this is an awesome tool (hell, i even have my dungeon open in the background right now). But... there are definitely a few flaws, big ones unfortunately.
This post is to talk about the highs and the lows of Legend of Grimrock's Dungeon Editor.

1. Alcove Shenanigans. I dislike being unable to place boxes, scrolls, or bags with things written/placed in them (aside from using LUA scripting. It works, but it's slow). Hopefully this can be fixed later

2. Microscopic Preview. Don't get me wrong, for general testing this is a great size. I just wish that you could go RIGHT into the dungeon when you wanted to, to test out certain things like how readable the text on objects are.

3. Tedious Creation. I'm one of those people that will play dungeon after dungeon. Unfortunately I forsee MANY people making tiny 1-floor dungeons. Going through the tedious task of creating the same party time after time is going to get almost excrutiatingly boring. Perhaps there could be a quickload set up for a few different parties.

4. Is this gonna be overpowered? One HUGE flaw I've noticed is my inability to know whether or not an item is being placed in a place where it will be used without being overpowered. Perhaps in the item selection bar it could give a preview of item stats?

5. MOAR CONTENT! This is more of a minor point, but I wouldn't mind seeing some smaller updates in the future involving more content (specifically dungeon styles) Maybe even varying wall types to change a small section of one of your floors into, for example, dirt, rock, and roots?

Well those are my problems. Overall I give the editor a 9/10. How about you? what are your thoughts or suggestions to help Grimrock become even MORE amazing?

Point 2: You can switch to fullscreen by pressing F.

Didn't know that. But what I meant was more along the lines of setting it up with characters you've created instead of a preset 4.

A way to save a party would be handy, especially if dungeons created are rock solid. Item balance is an issue, however i think this issue just gives me more incentive to play the main campaign more to see what appears at what kind of point, tooltips would be handy however. Testing, testing and more testing is the only way really. More content would be great, greenskins, zombies and ghouls I would like to see. Also if there was a way to define areas of a dungeon on the same level as a different tileset, that would be cool to differentiate areas.

Also, if youre having trouble with testing, in preview mode 'H' heals the party (even dead characters), and 'K' kills the creature in front of you. Comes in very handy, and its funny to see an Ogre go 'poof' in a shower of sparks!

What I would like is that when placing a pit, you automatically get the option to create a room directly below. Having to count the grid gets annoying really quick.

you count the grid? I just put my finger under the square :P

I always smudge my screen when I try to do that. After a while everything is so blurry I need to check if I'm drunk :P
