Omschrijving
This is a Work-In-Progress tileset and environment mod for RingWorlds to make it look more like an artificial structure.
Note that this is an early Work-In-Progress, and I will likely add detail to it later

I am also going to make some city-sets as well, to go along with it.

This mod is intended, and is best used, with an empire that is based on RIngWorlds.

UPDATE - District Spaceport
Alongside the release of my first Artificial RingWorld City-Set, I have updated the Tileset/Environment.
This is a small update that adds a tall structure to the left edge.
When testing the finished City-Set in-game, I noticed that the Cities are designed to not actually cover the entire environment image. This leaves a rather large gap on the left, which is usually covered by mountains, trees, or ocean on vanilla planets. Well, due to the rather flat terrain in Artificial RingWorlds, I didn't have that luxury to simply cover the gap. This forced me to get more creative. The result was to add a tall structure to the Environment itself, which will be there even before initial colonization. For the sake of lore, this structure is the district's spaceport, where your colony ship docks, and the crew use the structure's elevators to decend into the RingWorld and begin colonization.

I hope that this does not become anoyying. If it does, let me know and I can reupload the original as an alternative.

Compatability:
This mod overwrites 00_planet_classes.txt, so it is incompatable with any other mod that adds/changes planet classes and tilesets. There is no way to fix this, as it is a confine of the base core coding.
However, I have used AlphaAsh's txt file, but only changed RingWorld tiles and environments, so this is naturally compatable with his Alternative Tilesets (2.0) mod.

COMPATABLE MODS:
Alternative Tilesets (2.0) (Artificial RingWorld Tilesets will replace this mod's Habitat-based RingWorld Tilesets, but leave all other Alternatives as this mod has them): https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1320602538&searchtext=tileset
All mods that don't change 00_planet_classes.txt or RingWorld tilesets/environments

COMPATABILITY PATCHES:
ONLY USE ONE - WILL BREAK ALTERNATIVE TILESETS COMPATABILITY

Planetary Diversity: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1372917623

If you have any compatability requests, please provide a link to the mod you want compatability for, and I will have a look at what I can do.

This mod changes the Planet Classes file... I'll have to fix that.
I havent messed with this game since Distant Star's announcement... I'll try to get an update out soon!

never seen an animated one, not really a big deal to add in anything like that. Just makes the place look like there is stuff going on, rather than an abandoned city.

Also, you mentioned adding flying vehicles to give it more life?
Do you know if it is possible to animate them so that they move?
I thought about this, but decided to not add them because it would be strange to have flying vehicles with no momentum or velocity...

I play them as well. The best game series I have ever seen!
I do wish the Citadel was in-game, but I do not know how to any of the modeling...
I figured that these Rings are the best we have for now.

That image is of the citadel, present in all 3 Mass Effect games, which I still play to this day so I do know what you're talking about. An idea you just brought to mind is the ability to add in the citadel itself into the game as a custom 3D asset to a possible unique starting system, which would be pretty high tier

The buildings being the same color is intended. My goal was to make it look as if the buildings are built directly into the structure of the Ring. A good example is this image:
https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/masseffect/images/d/d7/MassEffect2Citadel.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20100721191415
All of those buildings are actually part of the same structure. Notice how they all have the same style?
This city-set is also intended specifically for the Artificial RingWorld environment image. It is best used alongside a mod that allows colonization of them at the start of the game.
As for different cities...
I do plan to make many more cities, of many different styles. I plan to make some with different architecture, as well as several versions of each of them with different colors.
Feel free to make any suggestions.
Thank you for the feedback!

also a pretty new idea would be to add different colors to the different buildings. Just realized that on every cityset Ive seen to date has all the buildings 1 color. Why are they all white, or all tan. or all gold? Look at a city irl and their is variety in the buildings. I jus find it hard to imagine there being a law requiring all buildings look the same. Also since Im on the subject, why not add in some flying vehicles to give it more life, only seen 2 sets before with flying stuff on them and I think its a pretty dank thing to have

I cant even find the other mod I was talking about, easier solution is a less dense cityset that still looks overpopulated af but doesnt funny on non-ring planets
Richard1757 7 mei 2018 om 23:34
What I mean is that currently you have to equip the cityset, which effects all of your colonized planets
BobGrey  [auteur] 6 mei 2018 om 16:51
You mean to add a cityset in the main image do that it shows up before colonization?
If so, I am not sure how to do so and still make it look right. I plan to make multiple citysets with different styles, and I would have to create an entirely new environment for each one...

What do you mean by "without forcing all other planets to look like they were designed to be rings"?
