1. Mechs are tied to a specific quest "mechunlock". Block that quest and you stop the mech. Not sure how to tie that to a specific race.
2. What you put in your 'ship' is up to you. My Taurikin race (https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/filedetails/?id=1600522737) has a floating island for a ship
3. SAIL can look however you wish. A.V.I.A.N. (https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=753790671) is a great example of custom animations. I am not sure about audio. I would look at custom SAILS to see if any do.
4. Hmmmmmmm I am assuming no in base game Starbound. Not sure if Open Starbound (or anything similar) can do that. Unpack the game assets and have a tinker
1. Can you set a race to not have access to a mech at all?
2. Instead of a ship, can you have a zone that acts as the same thing instead? Like a pocket dimension with a floating island for example.
3. Can the S.A.I.L. instead be visually and audibly re-worked into something non-tech based such as a psychic being, this would include replacing text descriptions along with the SFX made when it is speaking.
4. Can you change the visuals of the base UI based on race selected?
