The Winchester Model 1897, more commonly referred to as the Trench Gun or simply the M1897 is a pump-action Shotgun designed by John Moses Browning. It is an improvement to the Winchester Model 1893. The weapon was popular among American soldiers during World War I, and at one point was even protested by Germans over its usage.

About Harlem Hellfighters

The 369th Infantry Regiment—also known as the Harlem Hellfighters—were an infantry regiment of the U.S. Army National Guard during World War I comprised of African Americans that were known for their toughness and the fact that they never lost a trench, foot of ground, or a man through capture to the enemy. Due to their feats, they were given their nickname by the Germans.

绰号“堑壕清扫器”的温彻斯特M1897是一枝由著名的美国枪械设计师约翰·勃朗宁设计、美国温彻斯特连发武器公司生产的泵动式及外击锤型设计散弹枪，发射12号霰弹或16号霰弹。此枪有不同长度的枪管可以选择。美国军队使用了短管版的M1897散弹枪，并且把它称为“战斗散弹枪”、“战壕散弹枪”或“防暴枪”。这是温彻斯特M1897的其中一种衍生型，亦发配给一战期间的美军使用。这是经过一定的修改，包括安装了作为穿孔钢板的隔热罩在枪管之上，枪管比民用散弹枪短，弹仓容量更大，没有空气阀门，并装有刺刀座以便装上特制的M1917刺刀。

关于哈莱姆地狱战士

哈莱姆团即美国陆军第93师第369步兵团，也被称为纽约州国民警卫队第15团，其人员主要来自纽约城，是美军历史第一支黑人团级战斗单位，第一支拥有黑人军官的部队，也是第一个到达莱茵河，进入德国的美军。

虽说是美军，369团和其他兄弟团（370团、371团、372团）实际上是作为法国陆军师的独立团在使用，由于补给问题装备也是沿用法式。不同于在美国本土饱受歧视，法国人并没有区别对待他们。哈莱姆团最开挂的一次作战部署持续了191天，是一战史上最长的作战部署，期间他们没有丢失一寸土地。停战日15天后，哈莱姆团成为协约国第一支抵达莱茵河的部队，也是历史上第一个到达莱茵河，进入德国的美军。因为他们的好斗勇敢赢得了法国人的青睐，“哈莱姆地狱战士”、“黑响尾蛇”、“青铜人”的绰号就是法国人授予的，德国人那边也给了他们一个“地狱战士”的绰号。
