No need to have heavy landing ships, this can just be dropped off at the beginning of a planets gravity well.

A starter pod with all the components needed for the following:

3 Wind turbines
Full refinery
Assembler
Spare oxygen and hydrogen bottles
And spare components

The pod itself has a lot of battery power, solar panels, and a survival kit. It can take 2 people, and has 2 gatling turrets for defense.

There are a lot of readouts which allow colonists to keep tabs on supplies, power etc.
