Description
On the Goldfields Railway, one of their rolling stock items is a little unusual. Said unusual item is UG 79, a wagon that is now an open-air type solely used to carry bikes. Cyclists often come to Waihi to ride the train, and the presence of UG 79 allows these people to take their bikes on the train with them.

UG 79 was originally a covered frozen-meat wagon built in 1931, lasting in service right up until 1963. After a period in storage at the Waitara Railway, UG 79 was moved to Waihi in 2009. Since then, she has been converted into an open-air wagon. But unlike A 1358, the UG only carries bikes.

My recommended formation for the Goldfields train in Rolling Line is thus:

DSG 3059
Open Wagon (Long)
Pullman Heavyweight (Sleeper)
Pullman Heavyweight (Observation)
Open Wagon (short)

This is meant to replicate the formation I saw on the railway one day in July 2017. On that day, the actual formation was

Baguley-Drewry 0-4-0 No. 3650
A 1358 (open-air coach)
A 1288 (wheelchair coach)
AL 1751 (car-van)
UG 79 (bike wagon)
