Description
This is the newly updated, community driven expansion of This mod here!

This mod lets you play as a race of sentient giant bees called apini.

Features:
  • Bees as a playable race.
  • Apini and Azuri neolithic factions.
  • Custom Bee name lists and backgrounds.
  • Apini scenario to start with (neolithic)...
  • ...Or play as a horde of apini (and human) eating azuri! (there's no reason i should be excited about this)
  • Beeswax and honey production
  • Bee clothing and a helmet.
  • Beeswax Candles for atmosphere.
  • Honeycomb Beds filled with rejuvenating honey.

FAQ:
  • Q: How do I do X?
  • A: Before all else, check the learning helper! The most confusing aspects of apini are listed there! If you can't find what you're looking for still; create and issue on the gitgud page as it should be there!

  • Q: Why am I getting an error/incompatibility?
  • A: First and foremost make sure that it is actually Apini causing this error. If it is apini note that before release all updates are bugtested quite extensively; so your case is likely very specific. Please make a git issue listing the configuration and nature or the error so this can be fixed.

  • Q: Will there be any development for Ideology, Biotech etc?
  • A: No, as it stands Apini will only support Core Rimworld and the Royalty DLC. The reasoning behind this is that work available for Apini's development is very limited, and the ever expanding content for rimworld leads to increasing scope for a more or less constant work ability. Thus following the ethic "Do it well or don't do it at all." this is a line being drawn to limit the scope to what can be done well. In addition the Ideology and Biotech expansions do not personally interest development in this case. This mod may still work with these expansions, but they are not going to be actively supported. This is not to say that no work will be done period, if someone wishes to maintain compatability for these expansions I will gladly accept. But I personally cannot.

  • Q: How can I help contribute?
  • A: You can contact me through steam, make a discussion, even make a fork on gitgud. However you would like to get your code/art to me is great, but the absolute best way is to do it the traditional git way, thanks to version control. Although, reporting bugs or requesting entertaining/universal features is still contributing!

  • Q: How can I donate?
  • A: I will never ask or accept monetary compensation for my work in Apini. It is admitted that several contributors, primarily artists, have been compensated for their work. However this compensation has always come from myself alone. I do this work because I enjoy Apini. Not as my means of income, hence my often shortness of time. If anyone ever presents a donation method for Apini it is not legitimate.

Posting in the comments is highly discouraged as it's messy and hard to keep track of!
There are discussion threads for feature requests and bug reports, please comment there so it is less likely to get missed.

Making a gitgud issue cannot be forgotten or missed!

I finally got the save system fixed and out on master branch.
I get the feeling the way I've implemented it is pretty bad, but I didn't have anything to use as example for what I wanted to do.

In theory! I haven't tested the Ideology DLC too much but I think the HARs library is great at handling restrictions per-pawn rather by faction.

The way the mod settings do their job is a little hacky and are sensitive to stuff moving around or changing names.
I test them for each update. Last update was a while ago, I just checked it again and it looks like it needs fixing...
Until I manage (probably just need to recompile) to fix it you can find a slave to do it for you :p
It is the intended space slavery experience after all.

Interesting :eyes: so if for example I enslave an Apini, it could construct for me, OR I could remove the restrictions if I really want to?

Technically, no. However you are able to disable building/recipe restrictions in the mod settings.

Pollen dust is a byproduct of distilling pollen balls in the distiller, the learning helper might have more information that you that you might want!

How do I get pollen? I managed to get pollen balls but not pollen itself.
