Complex of Research Institutes

Description
A Complex of Research Institutes, which serves as a technical university.
For 80 teachers, 80 workers and up to 450 students.

Inspired by a building in Brno, which used to serve as the complex of research institutes. Since 1996 it serves as an IT faculty of Masaryk University.

In real life, the building was built between 1975 and 1988 and it was designed by architect Jan Dvořák (1925 - 1998). The sculpture above the main entrance was designed by Sylva Lacinová (1923 - 2019). The front building was demolished in 2012 and rebuilt into a more spacious but quite bland building. The same fate is waiting even for the rest of the building, it is scheduled for time between 2020 and 2024.

When I was passing by recently, it seems like they're still leaving the side buildings for now and they've just demolished the very rear. But I think it has nothing to do with a heritage and it's rather because of the capacity reasons.
Anyway, I'm glad I'm not visiting it there anymore.

Shame, really. I thought the black corporate box in place of the entry was bad enough. Now it will be gone for good. One of my favourite buildings in Brno. Alas...

In case anyone is wondering, yes they are demolishing it right now.

This reminds me of the Ministry of Defense complex in Monrovia, Liberia

Thank you for featuring this building. I like the way you do the reviews, looking at it from the technical side like materials etc.
