Description
Seeing how Guardsmen squads were still kinda weak even in groups of 3, I decided to increase their soldier numbers from 8 to 12 per squad as a personal preference (and to spite every other race really, I'm honestly biased). By that I mean that now you have 12 lasguns, instead of just 8, firing at any given time.

Since individual guardsmen each have 2 hitpoints (hence 16hp in a full-strenght squad), their hp increases accordingly despite me not touching that specific parametre, so these boys now have a pool of 24hp in their squad. What hasn't been changed (either directly or indirectly) is their armor, this was on purpose since I only want them to inflict just a little bit more damage without making them even a little bit tankier. So now you have a squad of riflemen with a meagre increase in firepower to cause a few more casualties per turn, an increase in sheer manpower to maybe last one more consecutive attack when overrun, but no extra defenses to keep it lore-friendly, not too unbalanced and also sensible.

Everything used here is of course not mine and edited as per the game's EULA and the terms for modding.
The thumbnail is just Dawn Of War: Winter Assault's cover but edited, literally google "warhammer 40k guardsman smiling".
If there's already a mod that does this then sucks to be me, I couldn't find it at least in the Workshop or maybe it's just one of those mods with a metric ton of things including bigger, buffier squads.
Note that this mod does not require any DLC, core game should do fine (made on version 1.6.4).

To someone who has not the brightest idea about making mods you've still made an excellent mod for IG to not get rolled over early game every single time. You don't need to have the mindset of a pro modder, you already have almost 700 subs worth of people who enjoy your work however big or small it is.

I should really go back to managing this mod and the other ones but I'm conflicted between deleting them all and remaking them from scratch with varying degrees of troop numbers OR just add different variants of these existing ones (infantry-only, vehicle-only, vanilla-only, DLC-only, etc).

Alternatively I could just give up this little idea and "hand it" to somebody else (there's nothing to hand over really, all I did was modify a handful of numbers in a text file and someone else with just as much time but more focus and attention than me would be able to keep this going).

I don't wanna pretend to be some kind of pro-modder when the mods I made are so freaking easy to make by everbody, but if nobody else is willing to take over this "project" I'll gladly get some time to dedicate into making sure these mods are up-to-date and add the aforementioned variants. Possibly even make them compatible with Expanded IG Roster too.

@Dunestyler I know this is an old thread but FYI to "recreate" this mod for imperium mod, in game in the extra/mod window, there is a "Open mod folder" button next to the listing for Imperium
(otherwise its is about going through steamapps folder)
in that folder go to World/Units/Imperium/Gaurdsman.xml It can be edited with any text editor.

Under </model> there is group size change that to 12 or however you want to edit it.

Of course it is reccomended to save a copy of any file you plan to edit or at least documetn changes.

I'm adding this to my to-do list regarding Gladius modding. All I can promise for now is that I'll look into it and see what I can do, but bear in mind I'm just an amateur modder whose few experiences have been "oh hey a text file I can edit, sure I'll mod".
